Not Everyone Gets Divorced
Television and the media seem to report every day about a celebrity couple breaking up after a brief marriage. There are lots of articles out there concerning how bad the marriage rate is in the United States. Do you think all marriages end in failure? Is it correct to assume that all of our children are the product of divorce?
In America divorce rate falls to 3.6 per 1000 people in 2005. From an all-time high of 4.7 per 1000 persons in 1990, this was deemed the lowest ever since 1970. 63 percent of American children were growing up with both biological parents in 2005.
At this time marriage rate has come down to 7.8 per 1000 people in 2004 to 7.5 per 1000 people in 2005. 59 percent of the population is married and 10 percent of the population is divorced. Statistics reveal that 52 percent of marriage last as long as 15 years, 65 per cent of couple could prolong it for a decade and as high as 82 percent of marriages last for only 5 years.
So what do all these statistics show? Although it’s correct that several kids live in broken houses, they are not most of the kids in America. This percentage does not compare well to that in other modern countries which is a cause for concern.
Amazingly enough, the statistics show a vast percentage of marriages that last at least 5 years. Couples are likely to work at making the marriage a success. They remain together because they respect their vows. Over the past few years, the number of couples not separating is increasing.
No Fault divorce is a concept prevalent for around four decades. On it’s introduction, some individuals used this new idea to their own benefit. It was treated as some type of fad that made it more popular. Now it has become part of the main stream and is not just used because of its popularity.
So the statistics show us that not every marriage in the United States fails. Many people in this country are happily married. A marriage is more than a certificate that has been signed by an official. This is not a binding force for the couple. A true marriage is in the hands of person’s mind, body and soul. It involves the emotions of two people and is not a casual affair like tearing apart a piece of paper that signifies their union. That might be why there is a large percentage of the population that is not married.
People no longer marry hurriedly and prefer to wait and watch before their marriage. They may be spending more time with their fiance’s, because they are not getting married at such a young age. It enables couples to become one in body as well as soul. Their marriage will be successful and not be the failure statistics of marriage.
